WITH AMBITION TO THE DREAM POSITION

Annika Tran's career at CHG-MERIDIAN began when she embarked on an industrial clerk apprenticeship. Today, she is apprenticeship team leader and trainee guide and responsible for 28 vocational apprentices and degree apprentices across Germany.

ANNIKA TRAN I APPRENTICESHIP TEAM LEADER & TRAINEE GUIDE, WEINGARTEN OFFICE

My name is Annika Tran and I live in Ravensburg. After completing a course at the college for commercial vocations in Ravensburg, I entered the world of work in 2009 when I began my industrial management assistant apprenticeship at CHG-MERIDIAN AG in Weingarten. I'm now Apprenticeship Team Leader and Trainee Guide and responsible for 28 vocational and degree apprentices in Weingarten, Gross-Gerau, Munich, and Düsseldorf.

FROM APPRENTICE TO APPRENTICESHIP TEAM LEADER AND TRAINING GUIDE. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHG-MERIDIAN JOURNEY?

After finishing my three-year industrial management assistant apprenticeship, in which I got to know a lot of different departments, I was taken on in the HR Academy department. During my apprenticeship, this was one of the departments that I realized I wanted to join. My job there included the ongoing development of the e-learning program and the production of new e-learning courses. Very quickly, I began to be assigned new areas of responsibility. This meant that my work in the HR Academy was always exciting and very varied. For example, I was given responsibility for organizing and running the start-up seminars, the onboarding, and the work placements for schoolchildren.

A major change for me was when I was given the role of Trainee Guide in 2015. In this role, I'm responsible for applicant management and the organization of the two-year trainee program, Trainee for Sales (TrailS), and for looking after the trainees.

Since 2018, I've been Apprenticeship Team Leader & Trainee Guide. In this function, I'm responsible for all vocational apprentices and all degree apprentices from Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University at all of our training sites.

WHY DID YOU TAKE THIS CAREER PATH AT CHG-MERIDIAN, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

CHG-MERIDIAN attaches great importance to initiative, dedication, and continuing professional development.

Back when I was doing my apprenticeship, I became very interested in human resources work. This interest grew even stronger during my first job in the HR Academy. It made me want to establish myself and specialize in this area. When I decided to undertake more vocational training, CHG-MERIDIAN made this possible and supported me. As a result, I obtained a business administration qualification, with human resources as my specialism, while still continuing to work.

I believe that my continuing professional development and the shift in my job profile enabled me to demonstrate my dedication and initiative. I've pursued my career with a great deal of ambition, and always with a clear goal in mind. But I haven't missed out on the fun aspects, whether in my day-to-day work or at joint events such as end-of-year parties, departmental outings, or sports events.

YOU RECENTLY CELEBRATED TEN YEARS WITH THE COMPANY. WHAT MAKES CHG-MERIDIAN SPECIAL TO YOU?

I see CHG-MERIDIAN as one big family that believes it's very important for everyone to get on well. Every morning, I look forward to the challenges of the day ahead – even after ten years. It's great working with such fantastic colleagues and to see how friendships blossom.

For me, what makes CHG-MERIDIAN special as an employer is the opportunity to take on new areas of responsibility and, as a result, to progress in my career. It is not absolutely necessary to have a university degree in order to become a manager. What counts are commitment, determination, and a good performance.

I am excited to see what the future holds for me!
